Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim - what???

Honestly, whose brilliant idea was it to name the team that? Whatever. Anyway...

A couple of weekends ago, the Desotell family headed to Anaheim to go to an Angel game with our posse. We were sure to get there nice and early so we could tail-gate - yay!! We met under the "Big A" and proceeded to eat tons of yummy food & had a few drinks as well. Kevin was the grill master and cooked Sheboygan bratwursts that we had delivered from Wisconsin. Always a hit!!!

The boys behind the BBQ. I don't know why, but we don't have one of all the ladies. How'd that happen? Actually, I'm surprised we didn't try to get a picture of the whole group pre-game. There were A LOT of us!!

How Nick spent the majority of the tailgate party - eating strawberries. He honestly had about 20 of them. Seriously. If you were standing at the table that held the platter full of strawberries, you'd see a little hand reach up, grab one and then a blur of blond hair running away...

A tail-gate must-have: a blender that plugs into a cigarette lighter. Blend, Jon, blend!!

Here is (almost) the whole crew sitting in our seats...

The view from our seats - we were WAY up there. And the stairs were steep & uneven. Just ask the person who slipped & fell on her butt as she was going down after the game (yea, that'd be me. Got a nice bruise to prove it too!)

A few of the boys watching the game - Tristan, Remy, Evan, Kevin & Nick...

Christy & I. Please note that just because it was an Angels game does NOT mean that I won't show my SF Giant love!!! Kevin did the same - even a shout out to Barry Bonds by wearing a Bonds t-shirt!

Some of the crew. TJ is holding up one of the bottles of "water" that we all shared - water being rum, of course! Why pay ridiculously large amounts of money for cocktails when you can bring in your own? Well, I suppose "can" is not the right word, but you catch my drift.

Kevin took Nick for a walk in his stroller around Nick's normal nap time in the hopes of getting him to fall asleep. Success! He only slept about an hour or so, but we'll take it! Sadly, one of our friends (curse you Margaret!!) bought Nick a Rally Monkey. For Giants fans, this is not a good thing. Flashbacks to the 2002 World Series came rushing back and I became momentarily depressed.

Just waking up wondering "where am I?" And "what is this red, furry monkey?"

Post-nap, a happy camper!

Our friend Dina's son, Sean, loved taking pictures of Nick - he took a ton of them. Here's one on our way out of the park (down those ramps that go around and around...) Nick looks like he's about to say "Get that camera outta my face, Sean!!"

Dina's other son, Evan, loved being Nick's chauffeur and pushed the stroller in & out of the park.

It was an exciting game, the Angels were behind and staged a comeback to win. Whatever. We still had a great time, even though it was the dreaded Angels!!!

Hmm, reading this post makes me feel guilty I did not dress my kids in Giants garb when we did our stadium tour this summer. Of course, being from PA I consider my kids to be 1/2 Philly team fans anyway (well, actually 100% in terms of football - sorry Niners) so I guess Olive wearing a Phillies shirt was okay. Love that you got Nick to nap. Is the stroller the key? Nikos was NOT having a nap when we were at Wrigley.
