The Battle of the Crock Pots

Or, as some might call it, Super Bowl 2010!!!

Why crock pots you ask? Well, I challenged our guests to bring something to eat or drink that is somehow related to either New Orleans, Indianapolis or Miami (the host city of the Super Bowl). It could be something that is known to be from these towns or I also expanded it to include food that is the color of either team (black & gold or blue & white).

It sounded like a good idea early on, but as I talked with our friends, we realized that - with no offense intended to the kind folks of Indy - there isn't a whole lot of food that comes out of Indy. At least not food that people would consider bringing to a party for other guests to eat. But our friends got creative!

So the various crock pots contain all sorts of goodies - beer cheese soup, gumbo, a corn soup-thing, jambalaya and meatballs.

Christy made descriptive cards for her things (beer cheese soup with all the toppings)

We also had guacamole and seven layer dip (I know, not really "up to the challenge", but whatever...) We used blue corn tortilla chips to fit the theme, well, you can't see them here, but we did! Those in the picture are WHITE corn tortilla chips, so there.

All the kids piled into our bedroom to play XBox. Some of the kids, Nick included, tranferred to the living room to watch a movie instead.

Dina & Bonnie (who is looking at something on her leg, I think) sitting in our "stadium row seating".

We broke apart our sectional couch to allow for more seating.

A view of everyone enjoying the commercials - I mean - the game.

Yep, we had decorations too!!

It was "Super" fun (ha ha...) and pretty much everyone except Bonnie was happy the Saints won!
